PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer which can be stably used in a standing state irrespective of the type of an information equipment to be used. SOLUTION: The printer 1 discharges a sheet 3 after printing upward in a state in which its printed surface is observed when the sheet 3 is printed in the standing state. The printer 1 comprises a printing head 14 arranged on the lower end in the state that the printer 1 is stood, a platen roller 5 for sending the sheet 3 to the head 14 while pressure contacting the sheet 3, and a support member 30 which is provided to be able to be contained in the printer 1 body and which can support the printer 1 body in the standing state.
