PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning device for the surface of a book, which is capable of easily and surely removing severe contamination without providing the book with any damage. SOLUTION: A decking 10, having a plurality of continuous protrusions 10a, is provided on an oscillating table 1, oscillated by an oscillating means 8, and the extending direction of the continuous protrusions is specified so as to be intersected vertically or obliquely with the oscillating direction LR of the oscillating table 1. A puff 11, made of non-woven fabric for wiping dirt on a book 12 off, is disposed on the decking 10 while a cleanser with an anti- fungus agent is applied on the puff 11. The peripheral rims of the puff 11 and the decking 10 on the oscillating table 1 are fixed integrally to the oscillating table 1 by closing a clamping frame body 5.
