PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter material excellent in heat resistance and chemical resistance, especially, acid resistance and alkali resistance and capable of being used at high temperatures. SOLUTION: A filter material is provided which comprises a woven or knitted fabric or nonwoven fabric containing at least 30 mass % fibers of a poyimide resin having repeating units represented by the structural formula.
