PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a scale producing apparatus capable of producing a scale by a desired length inexpensively. SOLUTION: A tape supply roll 24 is disposed rotatably in a case main body 12 such that a tape 18 taken therefrom passes through between a scale plate 21 having a scale engraved by mm order and a pressuring roll 23 so as to have a scale printed. Then, according to cooperation of a sectioning mark printing part 38 and a solenoid 44 disposed thereafter, marks such as numerals representing a length, or the like are printed on the tape 18. The mark printing timing operation and the mark counting up operation are carried out by sensing projections 72, 73 formed on a rotation shaft 56 by a micro-switch 52, or pressing a counting button 39 according to rotation of a second lever. Since the printing operation is executed using an ink on a tape of a paper, or the like, a sharp printing can be achieved as well as a scale can be produced inexpensively.
