PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the quantity of a volatile organic solvent discharged in coating and to form a coating film having a metallic tone appearance and brightness in combination stably by applying a specific single coat type metallic coating material composition on an ABS base material by a specific electrostatic coating method. SOLUTION: In the single coat type metallic coating material composition prepared by applying the energizing treatment on the degreased ABS part and combining a non-water dispersion type copolymer-containing liquid with an acrylic resin, the difference of the SP value of the acrylic resin to that of the non-water dispersion type copolymer-containing liquid is +0.5 to 0.8 and the single coat type metallic coating material composition is applied under an electrostatic coating condition of 9.8×10<4> -19.6×10<4> Pa atomizing air pressure, 9.8×10<4> -19.6×10<4> Pa pattern air pressure by an air atomizing reciprocal type coating machine in the electrostatic coating process, dried and hardened by one coating and one baking.
