PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mold for an optical element excellent in cutting properties capable of enhancing dimensional accuracy, capable of forming the shape of a desired optical surface of dimensional reference surface by transfer and capable of also forming a fine shape, the optical element formed using the mold and a master mold for molding the same. SOLUTION: A second mold 10' is formed by applying cutting processing to a first mold 10, which is formed by molding an amorphous alloy MG having a supercooling liquid region to form an optical molding surface 10a to the first mold 10. Since the optical molding surface 10a of the second mold 10' is used for molding the optical surface or dimensional reference surface of a lens, the properties to be cut of the amorphous alloy is extremely good and, therefore, the molding surface of the mold corresponding to the optical surface or dimensional reference surface of the lens can be accurately finished and the life of a tool can be extended. |
