GADOLINIUM OXYBROMIDE-BASED GREEN FLUORESCENT SUBSTANCE AND PREPARATION METHOD THEREOF

PURPOSE: A gadolinium oxybromide(GdOBr)-based green fluorescent substance and its preparation method are provided, to allow the substance to maintain the stable properties even at high vacuum and to improve the luminous brightness at a low velocity electron ray by employing terbium as an activator. CONSTITUTION: The gadolinium oxybromide-based green fluorescent substance is represented by Gd(2-x)OBr: Tbx, wherein 0.001<=x<=0.5. The method comprises the steps of mixing gadolinium oxide(Gd2O3), ammonium bromide(NH4Br) and 0.001-0.5 mol% of terbium oxide(Tb4O7) based on the amount of gadolinium oxide; drying the mixture at a temperature of 100-150 deg.C; and sintering the dried mixture at a temperature of 800-1,500 deg.C under the reduction atmosphere. Preferably the reduction atmosphere is obtained by using 2-25 vol% of hydrogen gas mixture. Preferably the mixture comprises further 0.001-0.5 mol% of potassium bromide(KBr) based on the amount of ammonium bromide.
