PURPOSE: A method and a device for discriminating new sound play are provided to precisely discriminate the playing of new sound even by a musical instrument generating resonance phenomenon like a piano according to the change of volume and the spreading of sound. CONSTITUTION: A method for discriminating new sound play includes the steps of inputting a music played outside after converting into digital sounds(S100,S200), decomposing the digital sound into frequency components by a set predetermined time unit(S300), determining whether a new sound is played by analyzing the spread degree of the played sound on the frequency and the change of the played sound volume on the basis of the frequency component values(S400-S500), and outputting the determination result(S600).
