PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sulfur-containing ester lubricating base oil low in dynamic viscosity, excellent in lubricity, low-temperature fluidity, a low evaporation property and safety. SOLUTION: This lubricating base oil comprises a sulfur-containing ester (A) shown by the general formula (1) (wherein, R<1> and R<2> are each a 4-18C hydrocarbon group; and m is an integer of 1 or 2) and having a dynamic viscosity of 10-40 mm<2> /s at 40 deg.C and an ignition point of >=200 deg.C. |
