PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem in a heavy snowfall area wherein a protection fence such as a guard rail is damaged every year, and the repairing work for it takes much working cost and a number of working days. SOLUTION: This protection block 1 for a road guard has an anchoring recessed part 16 recessed substantially in the horizontal direction and a guard cable hole 19 with a guard cable fitting 5 having an annular part 50 allowing a guard cable 2 to penetrate through it on the upper surface, and allowing the guard cable 2 to penetrate substantially in parallel to the installation surface 6 between both sides. An anchoring through-hole 17 is provided penetrating from the anchoring recessed part 16 to the bottom part 14, and the block is fixed to the installation surface 6 by an anchoring member 3 provided in the anchoring through-hole 17. A plurality of protection blocks 1 for a road guard are arranged side by side at spaces and the guard cable 2 is passed through the annular part 50 of the guard cable fitting 5 to connect the blocks to each other, thereby constituting the protection block fence for the road guard.
