PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize forced pole opening of a contact. SOLUTION: This breaker comprises a conductive member 5 inserted into a current-carrying electric path, a bimetal 4 which is connected to the conductive member 5 of which one end is fixed to a device body 7 to from a fixed terminal and the other end is set free, a fixed core 1 having both side pieces arranged on both sides of the conductive member 5 and a connecting piece for connecting both side pieces, and a movable core 2 arranged opposed to the fixed core 1 forming magnetic path for passing the magnetic flux caused by the current passing through the conductive member 5 with the fixed core 1. One end side of the opposed surface of the movable core 2 to the fixed core 1 abuts on both side pieces of the fixed core 1 and the other end side is spaced apart from both side pieces. When a large current flows, the other end side being spaced apart is attracted to the fixed core 1 and the latch between the movable core 2 and an operation board 16 is released. Thus, when an overcurrent flows through the current-carrying electric path, the latch between the movable core 2 and the operation board 16 is released as it is pressed and driven by the free end of the bimetal 4, and the contact points 9a,11a are forced to open.
