A method of repairing a metal casting comprises positioning across the region to be repaired a metal plate, and fastening the plate to the casting by fasteners driven through the plate and into the casting by an explosive charge. Ladles, slag pots or cast-iron chillmoulds may be repaired with mild-steel plates, which may be located in recesses in the castings. The plates and castings may be heated before steel nails are " fired " into position on each side of a crack &c. |
