PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display controller and a display control method by which a display direction of a rear side display device of a mobile unit can be kept for a user in the same direction at all times independently of a state of the mobile unit. SOLUTION: The display controller is provided with a rear side liquid crystal display device placed to an outer face of a body of a folded type mobile phone, a display switching circuit that switches a drive control signal of the rear side liquid crystal display device so as to change a direction of display of the rear side liquid crystal display device and its contents in matching with the state of the body of the folded type mobile phone and a state detection circuit that detects the operating state of the folded type mobile phone and gives a state detection signal to identify the detected operating state of the folded type mobile phone to the display switching circuit.
