In a magnetic store in which row and column conductors extend through a plurality of matrix planes while inhibit conductors are individual to each plane, the row, column and inhibit currents are derived from a common driving source which produces a composite signal at least one of the components of which is an alternating current. As shown in Fig. 1, a driving source S is selectively connected through row and column gates RL 1 -RL n and RC 1 -RC n to row and column conductors L, C which extend through the cores T of four matrix planes M 1 -M 4 . Also inhibit gates RP 1 -RP 4 selectively connect the driving source to inhibit windings P 1 -P 4 of respective planes. The source S is fed by two current generators S 1 , S 2 of which one may be a D.C. generator and the other an A.C. generator. Alternatively, the two generators may produce fundamental and second harmonic frequencies respectively. Reversal of effective polarity for reading and writing is obtained in the source S which reverses the D.C. polarity or the phase of the second harmonic as the case may be. Reading and writing in the magnetic store is effected in the usual manner. |
