<p>Method and apparatus for applying a metallic oxide film on the surface of a glass container whereby the container is formed with an integral moil portion which is supported by a device and takes through a coating chamber. The container while at a temp. >600 degrees F passes through metal oxide vapour entering the chamber near the upper lateral edge of the side walls and leaving via an exit beneath the supported container. The chamber is open at its upper end enabling the support device to stay outside the chamber during treatment. Very little vapour, which is corrosive, escapes from the chamber.</p> |
