The method of evaluation is carried out so that the resistance values are compared with a threshold value (15,16), and that the sensors have resistance values lying under the threshold value are identified as active. Whilst the sensors, the resistance of values of which lie above the threshold value (15,16) are identified as inactive. The threshold value (15) is altered in the vehicle seat, depending on an integration of the seat mat (1).
