<p>PURPOSE: A multi-functional material capable of performing various functions including a deodorizing function, an antibacterial function, a bactericidal function, and a stain-resistant function, and a method of manufacturing such a multi-functional material are provided. CONSTITUTION: The multi-functional material with a photocatalytic function comprises a base(1); a photocatalytic layer(2) having a photocatalytic function disposed on a surface of the base, the photocatalytic layer including at least a surface layer exposed outwardly, the surface layer being composed of fine photocatalytic particles(3) joined together with interstices defined therebetween at a predetermined porosity; and particles(4) filled in the interstices which are smaller than the interstices, the particles having a diameter of less than 0.1μm, wherein the particles filled in the interstices defined between the photocatalytic particles having an average diameter which is 4/5 or less of the average diameter of the photocatalytic particles, and wherein the particles filled in the interstices defined between the photocatalytic particles are made of a material having a vapor pressure higher than the vapor pressure of a material of the photocatalytic particles, and are condensed on necks between the photocatalytic particles.</p> |
