The heating system, for drinking water, has an expansion body (1) as a corrugated fine steel tube (4), mounted on the maintenance flange (3) in the hot water tank (2). The complete water heater, with an integrated expansion vessel, can be fitted into a conventional hot water tank, with a common flange for the maintenance of the tank and the expansion body. The lower end of the compensation tube is flushed by the cold water inflow (5).
