SETTLING TANK, AND METHOD FOR TREATING WASTEWATER USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a settling tank capable of massively treating wastewater or the like containing nitrogen-containing and/or sulfur-containing organic materials without diffusing malodor circumferentially.

SOLUTION: The settling tank includes: a tank body 1 which is provided with a wastewater introduction port 11 and a supernatant fluid discharge port 12 and has an approximately cylindrical shape with an upper surface opening; a cover member 2 covering the upper surface opening of the tank body 1; a rotating shaft 3 provided along the central axis of the tank body 1 and having an upper part protruding from the cover member 2; the agitating blades 4 provided to the lower part of the rotating shaft 2; a roller 51 self-propelled along the upper end of the outer peripheral wall of the tank body 1; and an arm 5 connecting the roller 51 and the rotating shaft 3. By propelling the roller 51 for itself along the upper end of the outer peripheral wall of the tank body 1, the arm 5 is turned to rotate the rotating shaft 3, and the agitating blades 4 provided to the rotating shaft 3 are rotated.
