Pyrimidine derivatives of general formula (I) or nontoxic salts thereof, useful as intermediates for the synthesis of drugs and or as drugs, particularly elastase inhibitors. In formulas (I) and (II) R1 is H or F; R2 is CH(OR3)2, CHO, COOH, alkoxycarbonyl, furan 2 yl, a group of general formula (II), or the like; R3 is Me or Et; and R4 is alkyl, phenyl, (substituted) benzyl, or the like.
