The crankshaft bearing has several bearing caps (3) consisting of a ferrous metal material and detachably connected to the light metal crankcase (1) and forming the support for a part of the circumference of the crankshaft (2) which also consists of a ferrous metal material. Ferrous metal bearing components (5) are installed between the bearing caps and crankcase in a recess (4) in the latter and form the support for the other part of the crankshaft's circumference. An air gap (6) exists between the bearing components and the crankcase.
