PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machine for automatically transmitting a preregistered answer message to a customer by utilizing e-mail without needing the operation knowledge of a mail server when requested and designated from the portable telephone of the customer. SOLUTION: This e-mail automatic answering machine is provided with a mail receiving means, a means for registering the sender address of received mail, an immediate transmitting means for returning a prescribed message when the character string of the received mail is a character string recorded as immediate transmission, a transmission time setting means for registering and eliminating a time designated by a character string while associated with a sender address when the character string of the received mail is the character string recorded as scheduled time transmission time setting, and a scheduled time transmitting means for retrieving a registered transmission time for every predetermined time interval and transmitting the message to a sender address registered while being associated with the time.
