PURPOSE: A method for coating partially or completely the surface with an aqueous composition and an aqueous composition are provided, which is applied for a coating, an ink, a fountain solution, an adhesive, an agricultural composition and an electronics cleaning composition, to reduce the equilibrium surface tension by employing an N-alkylimide of tartaric acid or malic acid. CONSTITUTION: The aqueous composition comprises an inorganic mineral or compound as a pigment or a pigment; a polymerizable monomer; an oligomer resin; a polymer resin; a detergent; a herbicide; an insecticide; an organic compound as a fungicide or a plant grown modifier; an N-alkylimide of tartaric acid represented by the formula 1 and/or an N-alkylimide of malic acid represented by the formula 2, for reducing the surface tension of the composition; and water, wherein R1 is an alkyl group of C5-C10.
