PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust emission control device of an internal combustion engine which can surely supply second air into an exhaust system without increasing costs and improve exhaust emission control efficiency even if an exhaust pressure is raised. SOLUTION: This device is provided with communication passages (15, 16) which communicate to two exhaust passages (20a, 20b) provided independently at each of a cylinder group (#1, #4 and #2, #3), an exhaust flow controlling means (40) for controlling exhaust flow in the two exhaust passages, an exhausted oxygen amount increasing means for increasing an amount of oxygen in the exhaust gas exhausted from either one (#1, #4) of the two cylinder groups when exhaust gas temperature needs to be raised, and an air pump (18) interposed between the communication passages (15, 16) for force-feeding the exhaust from the exhaust passage of one of the cylinder groups (#1, #4) to the exhaust passage of the other of the cylinder groups (#2, #3). |
