PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary type four-way valve which can operate stably, even if the refrigerant pressure difference in a high-low pressure circuit is large, and which is compact, inexpensive and easy to handle and has high insulation performance and high reliability. SOLUTION: The rotary type four-way valve is composed of a closed valve case 1, having a valve seat 5 provided fixedly in the lower end part, a permanent magnet disposed rotatably inside the case, a main valve 7 which is provided rotatably inside the closed valve case 1 and where a force, pressing a valve disk against the valve seat, is generated by the pressure of a fluid passing through a plurality of passages 26 communicating with the inside of the case 1 and an electromagnetic coil 9 positioned inside the permanent magnet, and a communication hole 13 for separating the main valve 7 from the valve seat 5 is provided in the main valve 7. This four-way valve has either a structure, where a seal pipe 30 is provided for the communication hole of a high-pressure- side circuit groove 10 or a structure, where a guide part preventing slanting of an arm part of a helical torsion spring holding the main valve 7 is provided, or both of these structures are provided.
