PURPOSE: A base fabric for abrasive cloth obtained by weaving any one yarn of a weft yarn and warp yarn with a spandex yarn without addition of a sizing agent to impart flexibility is provided which has increased flexibility in the direction of the weft yarn and excellent expansion and contraction as compared to conventional base fabric. CONSTITUTION: This base fabric is prepared by weaving one or more yarns of a cotton yarn, mixed fiber yarn, chemical fiber yarn, etc. with a spandex yarn of a twisted yarn without addition of a sizing agent, wherein the spandex yarn is an OE yarn, MJS yarn, filament yarn, horizontal yarn, etc. and has a thickness of 20D to 2,240D. The base fabric comprises a front layer(11) on the upper part of a base material(10), a back surface layer(12) on a back surface and an abrasive grain(15) coated with a bond(13) on the upper surface of the front layer.
