PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing composite metal by which high thermal conductivity can stably be obtained even when hot isostatic pressing is performed by using a metallic capsule made of steel. SOLUTION: On hot isostatic pressing in a HIP process (Hot Isostatic Pressing Process) 28, between a preliminarily molded work piece (composite powder molded work piece) S and the above metallic capsule 30 made of steel where the preliminarily molded work piece is housed, a pressure transmission medium 32 to be made into fused glass on the hot isostatic pressing, and an insulation jig 33 made of high melting point metal for preventing the contact between the composite powder molded work piece S and the metallic capsule 30 made of steel are interposed. Thus, even if the composite powder molded work piece S sinks by gravity, the molded work piece is received by the insulation jig 33 made of high melting point metal, and their contact is prevented. Thus, iron composing the metallic capsule 30 made of steel is not diffused into the composite powder molded part S, i.e., into the composite metal, and its high thermal conductivity can stably be obtained.
