A rubber composition containing substantially no fluorine and comprising as major ingredients (a) a saturated synthetic rubber containing substantially no double bonds in the main chain, (b) a rubber material and/or synthetic resin each having double bonds in the main chain, (c) a filler, (d) a vulcanizing agent, and (e) a vulcanization accelerator, wherein the ingredient (b) has a degree of unsaturation of 5% or higher; or a rubber composition containing substantially no fluorine and comprising as major ingredients (a) a saturated synthetic rubber containing substantially no double bonds in the main chain, (c) a filler, (d) a vulcanizing agent, (e) a vulcanization accelerator, (f) a fatty acid salt of a metal having a valence of 2 or higher, and (g) an organotin compound. The rubber compositions give a molded rubber having resistance to water containing a chlorine-based bactericide. Specifically, even when in contact with or immersed in cold, warm, or hot water for long, the rubber is hardly deteriorated by the chlorine-based bactericide. The rubber has greatly improved durability and high chlorine resistance.
