PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bill reception/payment device and a cashbox management method allowing accurate and easy management of the cashboxes. SOLUTION: In this bill reception/payment device 1, the cashboxes 400 (500) are installed with tags 90 each with an IC memory. Each cashbox installation chamber 3 of the device 1 is installed with antennas 8A, 8B, 8C executing a process for reading data such as the number of bills in each denomination stored in each the tag 90 attached to each the cashbox 400 (500) and a process for writing data such as the number of reception/payment bills in each denomination into each the tag 90.
