PURPOSE: A frame for a color cathode ray tube is provided to increase a natural frequency of a center part by forming the center part larger than a corner part in a pressing ratio of a main frame. CONSTITUTION: A frame is formed with two main frames(7-1) and two sub frames(7-2). A tension type shadow mask is welded with the main frames(7-1) after a predetermined pressure is applied to the main frames(7-1). Tension is applied to an upper and a lower direction of the shadow mask by releasing the pressure applied to the main frames(7-1). The amount of pressure of a center part is larger than the amount of pressure of a corner part. A difference of an interval(a) between the main frames(7-1) before the welding process and an interval between the main frames(7-1) after the welding process is reduced from a center of the main frames(7-1) to edge portion of the main frames(7-1).
