PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting flow-out of slag and a detecting instrument with which the flow-out of the slag can be detected with a high accuracy. SOLUTION: This instrument is the one in which the flow-out of the slag S into a tundish 2 from a ladle 1 in a continuous casting is detected and the acceleration of vibration generated in a supplying nozzle for guiding molten metal from the ladle 1 to the tundish 2 is detected. Then, a specified noise component is extracted from this vibration acceleration, and amplitude values in which the amplitudes in this noise component are not contained in a prescribed range are integrated and it is judged whether the flow-out of the slag is developed or not, on the basis of this integrated value.
