PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure the recording quality on a sheet S favorably even when a recording pattern has a high recording duty. SOLUTION: A recording head 11 is loaded on a carriage 16 capable of running along a platen 17, and the recording head or the platen is elastically supported movably in a direction to approach and separate from each other. A control substrate part 30 controls the recording head to record images to the sheet transferred between the recording head and the platen. In the recorder, the control substrate part recognizes the recording pattern of images to be recorded by the recording head to the sheet before the images are recorded, and changes a recording speed to the sheet by the recording head in accordance with the recording pattern thereby suppressing a movement amount in the direction in which the recording head and the platen separate from each other.
