PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automobile seat capable of achieving an excellent performance characteristic, such as the feeling of a cushion, while being limited in terms of space. SOLUTION: This seat 10 has a pad 13 on a seat part. The seat part is supported by a vertically displaceable elastic mechanism so that the elastic modulus of the seat part is small when a predetermined load is imposed on the pad 13. The elastic mechanism has a spring means for vertically displaceably supporting the rear end of the pad 13. The load imposed on the pad 13 causes vertical displacement of the spring means itself. The load imposed on the pad 13 is seating load. In a typical embodiment, the elastic mechanism has a coil spring for vertically displaceably supporting the rear end of the pad 13.
