PURPOSE: A motion picture streaming method in a video-on-demand is provided to obtain stable and high quality motion pictures regardless of the network environment such as modem, ISDN, ADSL and LAN of which network environment changes as time passes, and prepare a motion picture file by a single encoding in the main server. CONSTITUTION: A motion picture streaming method in a video-on-demand includes the steps of preparing a plurality of different motion picture files by carrying out the encoding once in a main server, transmitting a commander message requesting predetermined motion picture information by connecting to main server by a client(S400), withdrawing the motion picture file requested by the client in response to the predetermined commander message transmitted from the client to the main server(S410), separating the motion picture file withdrawn into audio and video data, checking a network bandwidth and a bit ratio of the client connected to the main server via a network and selecting a video picture according to the checked bandwidth and bit ratio(S420,S430), and transmitting the selected video picture to the client by the main server(S440).
