The homokinetic universal joint for a motor vehicle transmission has an external cup (1) with eight grooves forming pathways extending axially along a peripheral spherical surface. The central hub(2) has eight grooves forming curved pathways for bearing balls with the cup grooves. The balls are mounted in a cage (4). The centre of each groove formed in the external cup is offset from the spherical centre of the internal surface of the cup periphery.
