METHOD FOR COOLING HOT ROLLED STRIP IN WHICH HOMOGENEOUS MATERIAL IS SECURED IN WIDTH DIRECTION

PURPOSE: A method for cooling hot rolled strip in which homogeneous material is secured in width direction by obtaining widthwise material distributions from widthwise temperature distributions measured when finishing water cooling and minimizing deviation of the material distributions is provided. CONSTITUTION: In a method for cooling a hot rolled strip between hot finishing rolling mill and coiler, the method for cooling the hot rolled strip in which homogeneous material is secured in width direction comprises the steps of measuring temperature per each positions in a width direction of the hot rolled strip at water cooling finishing point; measuring material characteristics per widthwise positions of the hot rolled strip corresponding to temperature per each positions; obtaining correlation between the measured temperature per widthwise positions and material characteristics; obtaining temperature distributions according to each masking amounts from temperature compensation amount according to temperature distributions and masking amounts per each positions when finishing water cooling; obtaining material characteristics per widthwise portions for the obtained temperature distributions according to each of the masking amounts from the obtained correlation; setting the optimum masking amount for minimizing material characteristics in a width direction of the hot rolled strip based on the obtained material characteristics per widthwise portions; and repeating the steps of cooling the masked hot rolled strip after masking the hot rolled strip according to the optimum masking amount.
