PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lamp socket capable of coping with apparatuses having different lamp heights from a mounting surface and being easily mounted. SOLUTION: In this lamp socket 5 for a straight tube type fluorescent lamp which is arranged in parallel to a lamp axis, has fitting grooves 3 and 4 engaged to an engagement part 2 of a socket mounting plate 1 and is mounted so as to substantially vertically project from the socket mounting plate 1, elastic locking parts 14 and 14' are provided corresponding to the engagement part 2, and the plurality of fitting grooves 3 and 4 are provided on the elastic locking part 14 so as to change the distance of the socket mounting plate 1 and a lamp mounted on the lamp socket 5.
