Method for measuring the spectroscopic properties of corn in which the corn is transported to a falling shaft (20) where it undergoes measurement. A blocking device (23) downstream from the measurement line (21) is activated so that the corn in the shaft alternately moves and stops, with the spectroscopic measurements undertaken while the corn is stopped. An Independent claim is made for a corn transport device that can be used to stop a corn flow intermittently so that spectroscopic measurements can be made.
