An object clamp includes first and second clamp portions (152, 154) having recesses (153, 155) therein defining a generally circular cylindrical opening (156) for receiving an object (100) to be clamped. The first and second opposing clamp portions (152, 154) have at least one pair of opposing ends (152a, 154a) when in a preclamped state and at least one fastener (170) for urging the ends (152a, 154a) towards each other when in a clamped state. At least one relief area (185a, 185b) is formed in the recesses (153, 155) and is deflected into engagement with the object (100) when the object clamp is in the clamped state. The object (100) to be clamped may be a bicycle steering tube, a bicycle handle bar, or a bicycle seat tube, for example.
