The present invention concerns a method for purification, and possibly disinfection, of a water containing mixture containing ammonium, where oxidation of ammonium takes place by the addition of water before or at the same time as the addition of an amount of oxidant, possibly ozone gas, where the total water containing mixture after the addition of water has a salinity of at least approximately 0.2%. Further, also the use of a water stream and an oxidant is described. |
