Method for charging or topping-up a pre-paid account (29) for a mobile phone in which the charging is undertaken online at a terminal (23) of the sort used for charging electronic payment cards such as electronic cash cards or ec-cards. For example a user enters his mobile phone telephone number and selects an amount with which he wishes to top-up his account. An Independent claim is made for an arrangement for charging pre-paid accounts via the account control point of a mobile phone network provider using online terminals currently used for charging electronic cash cards or ec-cards.
