The object is not to limit the input timing of music title information to immediately before finalization when recording an audio signal and the music title information on a CD-R. An ID is added to a CD-R inserted into a recorder and data is written into a PMA and a memory. An audio signal is recorded in a PGA of the CD-R. A music title or the like is entered as text data and related to the ID before stored in memory. During finalization, text data is read out from the memory and written as TOC information into the lead-in of the CD-R. When discharging the CD-R without performing finalization, a track number, a start time, and an end time are recorded in the PMA. The ID and the text data are retained in the memory. When the CD-R is inserted next time, data can be read out from the memory in accordance with the ID. Before the finalization, the text data to be recorded as TOC information can be entered at any time.
