PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for the preparation of a thermoplastic resin composition which is excellent in the dispersibility of a high performance carbon black, consequently which is capable of giving a molded article excellent in the surface smoothness, electroconductivity and strength. SOLUTION: The process for the preparation of a thermoplastic resin composition containing the following components (A) to (C), is characterized by adding a mixture of the components (B) and (C) to the component (A), and then by mixing them; (A): 70-98 wt.% of a thermoplastic resin, (B): 1-20 wt.% of a carbon black having a specific surface area by the BET method of 500-1,500 m<2> /g and a DBP oil absorption value of 400 ml/100 g or more, and (C): 1-10 wt.% of an inorganic filler.
