PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately estimate the time until a crack occurs in a solder joint and easily estimate the service life of the solder joint. SOLUTION: A surface roughness of the solder joint is measured, a relationship between surface roughness and time is determined from the measured surface roughness and an initial surface roughness, the time until a precedently measured surface roughness of when the crack occurs is calculated from the relationship between the surface roughness and time, and the service life of the solder joint is estimated.
