PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photographic element which achieves both improvement of the color reproducibility of each dye image, particularly enlargement of the color gamut and improvement of aptness for a viewing light source and to provide a silver halide photographic sensitive material. SOLUTION: In the photographic element, the spectral reflection and absorption characteristics of coloring dyes formed form yellow, magenta and cyan dye forming couplers satisfy the formulae 110>=λmax(M)-λmax (Y)>=95, 80>=λmax (C)-λmax (M)>=70, 0.43>=Abs600 (M)>=0.38 and 0.48>=Abs550 (C)>=0.35 [where Abs600 (M) is the absorbance of the magenta coloring dye whose absorbance at the absorption maximum wavelength is 1.0 at 600 nm wavelength and Abs550 (C) is the absorbance of the cyan coloring dye whose absorbance at the absorption maximum wavelength is 1.0 at 550 nm wavelength].
