PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for alloying treatment of a plated steel strip after hot dipping in which the plated steel can be properly cooled independently of line speed and sheet thickness, and a hot-dip metal coated steel strip having an excellent surface appearance and proper degree of alloying can be stably manufactured while suppressing the occurrence of meandering and shape deterioration due to wetting of the surface of the steel strip. SOLUTION: In the method for manufacturing the hot-dip metal coated steel strip, a step where first mist cooling and successive gas cooling are performed is carried out once or a plurality of times for cooling the plated steel strip immediately after alloying heat treatment in succession to hot-dip metal coating.
