PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide piezoelectric electrostriction ceramics excellent from the viewpoints of less pollution, environmental influences and ecology in which a large displacement quantity can be obtained. SOLUTION: The ceramics contain oxides expressed by x(Mi1-y Miiy )Miv2 O6 +(1-x)MiiiMvO3 as the main component, wherein Mi represents alkaline earth metal elements, Mii represents lanthanoides, Miii represents alkali metal elements, Miv and Mv represent each at least one kind in the group consisting of Nb, Ta and V, and (x) and (y) are preferably in the ranges of 0.05<=x<=0.8 and 0.1<=y<=0.5. The ceramics preferably contain at least one kind in the group consisting of Mg, Ca, Sr and Ba as for the alkaline earth metal elements, at least one kind in the group consisting of La, Nd and Gd as for the lanthanoides, and contain sodium as for the alkali metal elements. By incorporating the lanthanoides, the displacement quantity is increased. |
