PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lower the charge for map data use for a user by allowing the user to use only an area including useful information and to expand map data use areas for a map data provider. SOLUTION: The navigation system which performs navigation processing according to stored map data is equipped with a storage means (3) which stores map data, a setting means which sets part of the map data as an open area, a search means (1) which searches for a route to a destination according to the map data of all areas stored in the storage means, and a control means (1) which judges whether or not the roads in the route searched for by the search means are in the open area and gives a warning when there is a road outside the open area. |
