PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alcohol alkoxylate compound capable of being sufficiently satisfied from an aspect of the slimy feeling of a washing liquid, the creaking feeling of clothing after washing or the like other than characteristics required heretofore such as low odorous properties or the like, and a composition containing the same. SOLUTION: The content of unreacted alcohol in the alcohol alkoxylate compound is reduced to 0.3 mass % or less.
