PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber amplifier having a flat and wide band gain spectrum and an optical communication system. SOLUTION: The optical fiber amplifier is characterized by having two laser light sources 5a, 5b to generate excited lights with mutually different wavelength and a tellurite fiber 1 to be excited by the excited light from the two laser light sources and by the fact that an absolute value of difference between the number of waves of the excited lights from the two laser light sources is 125 to 290 cm<-1> .
